Donald Trump looks unstoppable: Former president on course to defeat Joe Biden and make dramatic return to White House

Meanwhile Biden - who would be 86 at the end of a second term in January 2029 - is still insisting that he will be standing, despite whispers that some in the Democratic Party would prefer to see a younger candidate put forward.

So if this historic rematch looks so likely, then what is the likely outcome? The answer is brutal for Joe Biden.

That's according to the latest research from Redfield and Wilton who have polled over 6,000 voters from swing state battlegrounds.

They've spoken to voters in Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, North Caroline and Pennsylvania.

And as it stands, Trump is beating Biden in all six of these swing state battlegrounds.

The Independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy also records a substantial level of support, hitting between 8% - 10% in each of these states. Those are big numbers for a US candidate who isn't standing as a Republican or Democrat.

But Trump's leads over Biden in these battlegrounds are substantial: By 10 points in Florida, 45% to 35% in Georgia and then a range of poll leads right down to Michigan where there is just one percentage point in it.

When it comes to one of the few genuine Republican challengers to Donald Trump, Florida's Governor Ron DeSantis, Biden actually leads him in four of the six battlegrounds in a head-to-head poll. Biden also leads Republican candidate Nikki Haley in five of the six.

So, as things stand, Trump is the only Republican to hold a polling advantage over President Biden in the states that will make the difference.

And as Redfield and Wilton themselves explain: "Donald Trump leads Joe Biden in all six states on 12 of the 15 leadership characteristics listed, including ‘is a strong leader,’ ‘will be tough on China,’ ‘can get the economy going again,’ and ‘understands the problems afflicting America.’

"Critically, Trump leads on the question of who ‘represents change’ in all six states, a key difference from 2020."

So as Donald Trump continues to dominate the Republican primary contest, don't be surprised if America does indeed end up with Biden being challenged by Trump in a re-run of 2020.

And if that happens, the early indications are - much to the horror of liberal America - there will only be one winner.
